Pacific Palisades, CA

From its original program of introducing a bit more planting to a hedged front lawn, this project embodies how a garden develops over time, responding to new interests, architectural modifications, and changing needs. The key motifs are water (pond, spa, and fountains), and California crafts (vintage tile and pottery, ironwork, and statuary, both classic and pop), which bring both spark and a sense of history to a series of garden rooms and halls.  This is a garden I’ve worked on for almost thirty years, through four architectural remodels and always in close harmony with clients whose taste, passion, and love are evident throughout.  Planted in an eclectic array of flora perhaps only possible in Southern California, every inch of this 50’ x 125’ lot offers delights for the senses and refreshment for the spirit.
